Our People
We asked a number of our colleagues to share a bit about what they do at Allied Mills and why they enjoy working here.
From milling to technical, engineering and logistics, they offer a brief glimpse at what makes their jobs interesting.
We hope you enjoy getting to know the team!
Our Milling teams are made up of a combination of Millers, Trainee Millers and Site Operatives enabling us to provide a 24/7, three hundred and sixty five day production capability.
They oversee the intake of raw materials; cleaning and conditioning the wheat to allow optimum milling quality, food safety and operational efficiency.
They are also responsible for wheat gristing and flour blending to provide our customers with the ideal flour to create finished products as diverse as bread to bagels, baps to burger buns, pasties to pizzas, cakes to chapattis, noodles to pasta, to name but a few!
Our Technical teams manage quality, food safety and compliance, making sure we only use the best wheat, and are able to produce finished products of the highest quality.
Trained in all aspects of cereal testing and flour functionality, the teams use a combination of traditional and cutting-edge testing techniques to ensure everything we make meets customer requirements.
All testing and reporting systems and methodology are backed up and validated by our UKASS accredited Laboratory facility at Allied Technical Centre in Maidenhead.
Our Warehouse teams are responsible for planning, packing, picking and loading non bulk products to ensure we meet customer requirements on time, first time, every time.
Given the requirement to work closely with moving vehicles, our warehouse access is restricted to trained and competent personnel, and we operate Zone Safe systems in all warehouses to reduce the risk of interaction. The team are all trained and qualified in IOSH Working Safely, while Team Leaders are qualified in IOSH Managing Safely.
The muti-skilled team are able to pack everything from 1.5kg up to 20kg bags through our high speed, fully automated packing facilities.
Our Site Engineering teams are made up of multi-skilled Technicians responsible for the broad spectrum of Process plant and Site infrastructure.
Our primary function is to provide a sustainable operating platform for our sites to manufacture and deliver finished product to our customers specification and quality requirements.
Reliability and availability of Process plant is measured and managed through modern maintenance techniques, with compliance of statutory examinations falling under the Engineering and Asset Care umbrella.
Our Distribution teams are made up almost entirely of Allied Mills own staff operating our own fleet of vehicles.
As our last line of defence from a product quality, safety and security perspective all Drivers, Team Leaders and Planners receive the same training as the rest of the site teams in Technical, Production and Engineering – ensuring company values and ways of working are part of everything we do, right through from raw material intake, to delivery into our customers premises.
