What We Do
Milling is at the heart of everything we do. Over the years, our investment in technology has enabled a single miller to manage multiple plants and processes from the comfort of a control room. However, technology alone can only go so far—without essential milling skills and expertise, its potential is limited. At Allied Mills, we work hard to ensure that our milling team not only possesses the training and experience to operate state-of-the-art flour mills, but also the knowledge and skills needed to consistently deliver the highest quality finished products to our customers, while optimising efficiency and reducing energy consumption.
Through a comprehensive range of internal and external training programmes, we ensure our millers are fully equipped to tackle the challenges of ever-changing raw materials and the growing demands of customers, consumers, and regulatory bodies. We partner with UKFM to support our milling team in completing the seven-module distance learning programme, and wherever possible, progressing to the highly technical UKFM Advanced Milling Diploma.
In addition, we collaborate closely with leading milling machinery manufacturers to provide bespoke, in-house milling courses, ensuring the academic knowledge is complemented by hands-on experience in our own plants, guided by expert Head Millers.
Further development is fostered through our apprenticeship scheme, which combines milling and operational skills with opportunities to pursue apprenticeships in Management, Food Technology, Continuous Improvement, or any field that offers personal development and business benefits. This approach ensures we are cultivating the next generation of highly skilled technical millers.
